Round 2…….Fight!

Happy Friday all! Just wanted to give a quick update and use an old Mortal Kombat video game reference title. How often do you get that chance, right?

So, yesterday I started my second round of oral chemo (low dose, 10%, for a reminder) and this hit me a little more than the first time around, but nothing too harsh. The two mornings (I take it before bed) have been a little challenging in the nausea department. This morning I went straight to coffee after waking up, and coffee went straight to, well, out. Obviously my body is giving me a very clear signal about drinking coffee on an empty chemo stomach. Seems super obvious as I write this, but hey, trial and error, right? So going forward I will listen to my body as I have been preaching to others, and hopefully get this little issue resolved.

Other than that, all is good so far. Dylan and I will be running the Biggest Little Half-Marathon tomorrow, and the weather looks like it will be perfect for it. I am excited to be running it with him, even though he isn’t the biggest running fan. Opportunities are important to take advantage of whenever possible, no matter the circumstance, so getting to do this even though I am on the chemo is super cool. After seeing some of the situations others with cancer are facing and dealing with, I am thankful and blessed to be able to do this at all, regardless of any crutch I might have. That said, I am going to crush it for the best reason ever……because I can.

Just a little side note here-as you can see from the picture, yesterday was draft night in the NFL for (some of) our favorite, the Chicago Bears! They absolutely hit it out of the park with their picks yesterday. I can’t wait for the season to start so we can get this going (to the Super Bowl?)! Okay…thanks for indulging me…

I will update you all on the marathon and any other nuggets over the weekend.

In the meantime, have a great weekend and Bear Down!
