Blood Workin’

Greetings all! Hope everyone is doing well. I wanted to give a quick update since there is an update to give. Things are going well here for me as I am in the “in-between” part of the chemo for this month. I am continuing to take all of my supplements and following all of the instructions of the protocol, in addition to some other cancer killing supplements thrown in because, why not? I’ll be starting up the next chemo round mid-next week, but in the meantime I am enjoying not thinking about treatment at all, which has been awesome. Still no side effects and feeling overall really good.

The weather has started to turn (although it is hour by hour here in the Spring) and I have been able to run more and more. I started training for the half marathon coming up on Apr. 27 back in January, but stupid cancer had to come around and really make things inconvenient. I hate that. I reached out to the race people and they were super cool about letting me switch down to just running the 10K instead of the half, since I will be on chemo at the time of the race. They are typically stingy about refunds and changes, but they went above and beyond by, instead of refunding the difference in the 10k and half (around $15-$20), they gave me a credit so that Dylan (oldest son) can run the race with me. Pretty sweet! I’ll take that as a win right there!

Anyway, the update involves my blood work, which was done two weeks after the start of the oral chemo, to give a good indicator of effectiveness, issues, etc. As always, my blood work was excellent. Even the parts that are strongly effected by the chemo (white blood cells, red blood cells, immune system markers) were spot on, and in some cases, better! The report from the Doc involved a lot of “great jobs” and “keep up the good work!” Nice to hear, of course. I have always taken these blood work reports with a grain of salt as my cancer is like a ninja–stealthy and lethal. It never seems to trigger any blood markers and some of that I attribute to being ahead of the spread and therefore not allowing anything to go too haywire, and the other would be that I am really healthy except for that one little issue. Either way, a good report is just that, and I’ll take a win always.

Alright, that’s all I have for now. I am happy to report that I don’t have much to report, and I am definitely okay with that. Hope you all have a great week and I’ll reach out with more news soon!
