Day 9 (Week 2, Day 4)

Hey everyone!

Back in action today. One thing I will say is that my body is clearly working hard because I am one tired guy! I rested up yesterday and felt good going into treatment today. I did my Friday alternative treatments today since my schedule got messed up. That means my second day of chemo is tomorrow. Its a single (low-dose) IV tomorrow so I am hoping that the pattern stays the same and the only side effects will be fatigue.

I’ve been discussing my plan after my three week treatment cycle quite a bit this week with the doctors in preparation, and it looks like I am going to be able to take the oral chemo instead of IV. The doctor says that the effectiveness is the same, just a higher risk of side effects due to digestion and all those processes. He also let me know that the oral chemo, which of the three chemos I will have for my protocol, was the highest percentage of effectiveness according to the Greek test, so that’s a win! That also means I can get the PICC line out after next week, which is a super duper win. And yet another win is that I can get the oral chemo meds through a specialty pharmacy, which means I can actually use my insurance. Up to this point literally everything has been out of pocket, because why would insurance cover anything off script that may actually save lives??? I digress. So going into the last day of the second week I am feeling very positive going forward, albeit tired, and ready to crush the last week in (office) treatment.

As always I appreciate your prayers and thoughts and look forward to us all having an awesome Friday! Shout out to Jen for sharing her thoughts yesterday and also for being so incredibly strong and amazing through everything! She is so awesome and I am so blessed to have her here with me always!

Talk soon!
