I’m Back!

Hi everyone! It’s been a little while since I posted any updates—sorry about that! No news is good news, right?? Well, most of the time. I have been spending the last year and a half since my last post going on about my everyday life and appreciating every minute (except when I’m driving—that’s another post for another day, however). I have been getting my scans on about a 3 month interval and so far up until now-all good. Nothing better than reading that scan report in my portal and finding out how unremarkable I am! It’s been great to just live and not think about being sick or having cancer at all. We have developed a routine that allows that, thanks to my integrative doctor and my wife, who makes sure I stay on track…always..

Unfortunately nothing lasts forever even despite our best efforts. I started to feel a low subtle pain in early December of last year and after my initial scan, there was a small “spot” found near my spine in the middle of my back. After a biopsy it was found to be cancer because, of course it is.

So the plan is once again to lace up and get ready to fight. The saving grace here is that we have done this before and have learned soooo much that going into this again I certainly have a humble confidence that I can come out of this as before.

We will be documenting the journey this time, and I will do a much better job of it, I promise! Jen had the idea to have a blog to put everything into so everyone can follow our journey and hopefully learn along the way. I will give daily updates as much as possible and share everything that happens in real time, which I think could be really informative and helpful.

I will once again shout out my awesome wife-so thankful for her and all the hard work she does on my behalf, and also the rest of my super awesome fam—Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers and let’s all get ready to throw down on some cancer again! Let’s go!!!

Talk soon…..

I’m Brian,

Welcome to The Stage IV Life. I am living my life with cancer – not dying from cancer. Posting here gives me the opportunity to share the ups and downs….the lessons learned along the way – with the intention of giving others hope where they might not think there is any. We are navigating cancer … our way.
