Tahoe, baby!

Tahoe, baby!

Good morning and happy almost summer! The weather here in Northern Nevada has been awesome so far as the summer is approaching. I love this time of year..except for the wind. It’s part of the deal when you live in a high desert area I guess, but still..

Nothing new to report on the Cancer journey front as we are counting down to the 24th of June (next week) to take the Onco test. This is the big test that gets sent to Greece to give us the number of circulating tumor cells in my blood. Other version, this the final exam of this treatment/protocol. This will take a week or two to get back the results so I am super excited to see where I am with all of this. There will also be an MRI upcoming as well, but the Onco test is the grade for me on how I did. I will keep you posted on this, of course.

In the meantime, I am going about my day to day (supplements, detox, rest, exercise, etc.) and running as much as possible. Jen, AJ, AJ’s girlfriend Sam, and I were up in Tahoe last weekend for the Rock Tahoe Half Marathon. This was my first “official” half marathon, so I was super excited to run it. You couldn’t pick a better place, better scenery and have had better weather than I did last weekend for it. It was awesome. I felt great running it and great after–dare I say I could have gone further? …..TBD. I also had my best time so far, -1:49! That was about 4 minutes faster than what I had previously done, and it was 6th overall in my age group, so that was pretty cool. Not bad for a newbie. It has been a year this month that I really started doing this, so as soon as I’m done with this whole cancer distraction, I can really focus on training and smashing record times. LOL For now, though, it’s on to the next my next goal– 30K, so stay tuned. I just want to say that I am so thankful to be able to even do this at all, and I reflect on that often when I am out there, as opposed to sitting in a hospital bed. I am very blessed and will continue to never take any of this for granted!

Quick update on my blood work–no news is good news here. I did my final bloodwork ahead of the Onco test next week to make sure my white and red blood cells are doing their jobs and it showed that everything is good! I, of course, have a type of cancer (Renal cell) that is difficult to detect via blood work so my blood is usual uneventful, which is fine by me. Uneventful and unremarkable is where I want to be with all of this.

So looking forward, next week is the test and then more waiting…the worst part. I will meet with my docs after the blood test is drawn and get more info about next steps and options, etc. so I will update here when I get some more info. In the meantime, everyone have a great rest of your week and enjoy that longest day of the year tomorrow!

Talk soon!
