Greetings. Today was chemo day 1 of 6. The quick version is things went well…so far. Headache, tiredness, inability to make a shot while playing basketball outside with Jase after I got home, these are the symptoms/everyday issues (especially the shot making part). I got the double dose today of both of my hand picked and tested chemo drugs and I really didn’t feel any issues during the IV infusions. I did get my blood sugar dropped from a starting point of 99 when I got there all the way down to 33! I made the nurse worry a bit as she said she doesn’t see people drop that low typically. Kinda funny that I always seem to be “that guy” when it comes to these treatment things-setting new records and such, lol. Anyway during the second bag of chemo is when you have to start monitoring the blood sugar because it is mixed with the insulin, as I mentioned yesterday. About a third of the way I tested and I was at 74. Totally normal. It wasn’t even ten minutes before I tested again and was at 33! The nurse told me that it was a good sign that my body is so responsive and quick about it, which is awesome since I am so patient and all……..
That was about it for today. I will be, of course, monitoring any side effects and issues so I can document them for the doc and for all of you, but let’s pray it is mild! All of my blood work is really good and it points to me reacting well to the treatment, but we will see in real time. I’ll be back for day 3 tomorrow and will talk to you soon!
PS-I added a pic (above) I had emailed to me from the Run4Love race that I mentioned in an earlier post for reference I guess-looking forward to more after this little speed bump in life.
Have a great night/day! (Last day the sun will set before 6PM until October 29!–fun fact–Summer—-Let’s go!!
