Hey everybody! Hope you are all doing well. It’s been a little while and I hope everyone had a great summer! I wanted to give everyone an update because there is an actual update to give!
Since my last post, I have been continuing to follow the nutrition guidelines and (vast array of supplements) set out by my integrative Doc and have been feeling very good and normal as life continues to tick on by. I stopped doing my immunotherapy in July after I decided that the side effects were too much for me. I felt it was worth the risk since I was doing well with all of my supplements, diet, etc…. side effects can honestly make you question your sanity at times. My last visit to Dr. Bob (Integrative Doc) was in July and since I was doing well I didn’t need to go back until late October.
I got to enjoy the summer w/o doctor visits, scheduled or, thankfully, otherwise, and was ready for my 6 month PET Scan. This one is huge because it really shows me where I am—good or bad. After a lengthy and annoying fight with insurance as to the need for the scan (seriously??) I was able to get the PET scan last week. I know the Lord has a plan and I need to just have faith…… but I have to admit I was very nervous. This was really a fork in the road for me to show that what we have done to this point is continuing to work, so there was some serious nerves for both me and my family (especially Jen!)
I went in for my scan last Tuesday and I got the results in less than 24 hours, which is amazing. My scan was clear! No evidence of disease! Everything on the scan was unremarkable (my new favorite adjective). In fact, the remnants of the old dead tumor shrank too, which is rare! Dr. Bob’s office is so happy with the results that I actually don’t need to have another session with them until spring! Needless to say we were and are all very excited and so very thankful! God is amazing and has put me on a path that I never would have imagined, especially 11 months ago. I give all the glory to HIM!
I want to especially thank my wife, without whom I would not have made it through. She still to this day, tirelessly makes sure I stay on course and keeps me in check when needed! I also want to again thank all of you for helping make this possible. I have learned so much from this and your help made it possible to open my eyes to new solutions. All of your prayers have been priceless. We know this is a journey that will continue, but we also know that the Lord has a plan and He’s got this – we just have to trust Him with all of it.
The plan going forward is to first and foremost stay humble. I have won the battle but the enemy is always lurking, so I will stay mindful and alert. Secondly, I will continue to move forward with a deep appreciation for the time that I have been given and the family I get to spend it with. I am truly blessed and will not forget that ever. Thirdly, and most importantly, I can be around for when the Bears finally win the Super Bowl ( I got my Cubs wish, so…). Seriously though, thank you again to everyone and God bless each of you!
